Jerry Larson and his wife Carole own and operate a 1,000 acre farm in Climax, MN. Larson Farms grow potatoes, wheat, soybeans, and food grade soybeans. Jerry has farmed for over 50 years and follows in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. From his warehouse, Jerry markets to 14 different customers from the east to west cost. Of the 1,000 total acres on Larson Farms 200 are planted to seed potatoes. Soybeans, wheat, dry beans, and flax are the rotation crops.
Jerry has been involved in the potato industry for several years and has won several awards: National Potato Council Gold Potato Award for Leadership Excellence, NPPGA Meritorious Service Award, National Potato Council Seed Grower of the Year, Potato Man for All Seasons, and the Environmental Stewardship Award from the NPC and EPA. He also belongs to the Climax Development Corporation and the Climax Community Club; and was previously involved with the local Oil Company and Elevator Boards in Climax.
