Jim Bareksten

Jim Bareksten is the director of Government Affairs for CHS Inc. After growing up in North Dakota and graduating from Mayville State College, Jim began his career as a teacher in North Dakota in 1973. In 1977, he joined GTA as a grain buyer in West Fargo, N.D., and was later transferred to Marshall, Minnesota, where he began working with western Minnesota cooperatives as a field service representative. In July 1981, he moved to Grand Forks where he was promoted to manager of the Harvest States Northern Region. In 1995 he transferred to St. Paul where he took responsibility for the Country Services area of Harvest States, which included, Country Hedging Inc, Ag States Agency, Financial Services, Affiliate Accounting, and Field Services. In 2005, Bareksten assumed his current role as director of Governmental Affairs for CHS Inc.
